Aesthetics and advanced skincare No6 Clinic

What is Botox? Your questions answered

Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily allows the muscles to remodel and relax when injected, causing them to appear smoother, fade or disappear. No.6 Clinic’s medical team prescribe and then administer their own advanced injection techniques to provide tailor made treatments for each patient, thereby giving the exact results they wish to achieve. All treatments are followed up by the same doctor or nurse prescriber 2-4 weeks post treatment.

Where can I have Botox?

It is used to treat wrinkles and fine lines such as crows feet (around the eyes), frown lines (on the brow) and forehead lines.

Does it hurt and will people know I’ve had it done?

Fine microneedles are used which therefore makes the procedure generally pain-free. Some patients do prefer to have numbing cream which is topically applied pre-appointment. The injections only take a few minutes, and in most cases, the areas won’t be noticeable so you can carry on as normal that day.
When will I see results and how long does it last?Up to 5 days after treatment you will start to see Botox working and you will see the full effect peaking after 2-3weeks. Depending on a few factors (age, area injected and amount of product used ) the results will last around 4-6 months.

What are the risks?

As it is known, no medical or aesthetic treatment is without risks, but is safe in a clinical environment with medically trained experienced staff. During your initial consultation our Doctors will inform you of any risks and answer any personal questions or queries you may have.

Q&A with Doctor Natasha Gilani

Dr Gilani - No6 Clinic

1. Tell us about the importance of visiting a medical-led team in a clinical environment?

At No 6 our aesthetic team of doctors, nurses and therapists work closely together to offer our patients a holistic approach to their aesthetic needs. We believe it is important to have a clinician-led team to ensure all our patients are treated safely and appropriately. Ethical practice is our gold standard and we do not treat any patients unnecessarily. Proper patient counselling and addressing the patients concerns is an essential part of our consultation process.

2. What should I expect from a first visit?

At your first appointment we aim to address your particular concerns and offer you appropriate solutions. We will also undertake a detailed medical history of any past and present health concerns, operations, medications, allergies and previous aesthetic treatments. We will discuss the treatment options offered to you, their side effects, expected results, costs and after-care advice. You may have a treatment if you wish and if you feel you have had time to consider all the information given to you. We strongly encourage you to take time to think about having any procedures and the final decision if very much yours not ours.

3. Why do I need to see a doctor before my first injectable treatment?

Certain injectables require a prescription and in therefore you must see a doctor before we can treat you the first time. This is for your own safety and is in line with industry guidelines. Continue reading

What attracted you to work in the aesthetic industry?

Many reasons, but mostly because I have a passion for skincare, particularly the affects of ageing and how to prevent it.

What do you enjoy most about working at No.6 Clinic?

It’s a professional and welcoming clinic. I feel that I can take my time with my clients and I never feel rushed. The clinic also offers a variety of treatments so I can individualise my clients treatment program.

What is your favourite treatment to have?

A combination of Botox and dermal fillers. These are used more widely now as a prevention rather than a cure. The results of these treatments can build anyone’s confidence and self esteem.

Describe yourself in three words

What is your favourite product?

Vitamin A. It has many beneficial factors including ex-foliating, hydrating and repairing the skin.

And finally, what is your No 1 skincare tip?

Always wear SPF regardless of the weather. The sun is one of the largest environmental factors for premature ageing.

Options for facial pigmentation and slight scarring

“I have pigmentation in the form of dark spots and even some slight scarring on my face – is there anything I can do to eliminate this problem or is make-up my only option?”

Our Jane Iredale make-up can offer a quick fix solution because the pure mineral pigment make-up gives exceptional coverage as it contains no fillers such as talcs or bismuth. However, for a long term solution we would recommend a course of 3 Intense Pulsed Light treatments, a month apart, supported by Dermaquest Mango Brite Peels and a structured home care regime.

The specially designed IPL light is absorbed only by the cells containing excessive concentrations of pigment (melanin) and destroys the pigment granules. It does not destroy the surrounding tissues or remove the normal skin colour. IPL also works for scarring, releasing precisely controlled short pulses of filtered light that stimulate the fibroblast cells within the skin that produce collagen and elastin,  resulting in a more uniform complexion. The skin becomes firmer and appears more radiant.  At No.6 Clinic we offer 20% off a course of 3 treatments and a full free consultation and review, see our website for more details.

Regular use of sunscreen is essential if new areas are to be prevented. Dermaquest SPF50 SunArmor, brimming with peptides, it not only prevents solar damage, but actually helps to revive and rejuvenate your skin. We also recommend daily use of Dermquest SkinBrite Collection to banish dark spots, under eye circles and hyperpigmentation concerns through the powers of brightening botanicals and the latest in illuminating ingredients.

Don’t be left in the dark, our No.6 aestheticans can work with you to reveal a brighter, luminous you.
