Get Ready and Go! New facial and beauty package

Get Ready and GoAfter hearing all about the new facial and beauty package at twice-award winning No.6 in Tunbridge Wells, Get Ready and Go, I had to give it a try. I mean, who doesn’t want to be pampered and be set for a night out?

No.6 launched their online booking system last year which meant that I could snap up an appointment conveniently. On arrival I was greeted by Josie, their lovely receptionist, and after finishing with her client Aesthetician Beth came to welcome me. The ladies told me that owner Samantha had developed this new package due to popular demand. No.6 pride themselves on listening to their clients and developing signature facial treatments to meet clients’ needs and give the best possible results and experience.

Get Ready and Go 2Firstly, I enjoyed a relaxing facial which involved a thorough cleanse to remove my makeup and prepare the skin for the next step – a Vitamin C micro-peel based light exfoliator, which smelt divine. Vitamin C brightens the complexion and the beads gently exfoliate for a deep pore cleanse. The activator is then applied which dissolves the micro-beads and allows the Vitamin C to be absorbed at a deeper level, to refine and give the skin that special glow! The Aestheticians at No.6 tailor the ingredients to each individual, so the next step was a prescribed mask to treat my particular skincare needs. Whilst the mask was on, I was treated to a shoulder massage. Wow, I was really floating on cloud nine at this stage. Finally, vitamin serums were applied to my face and neck, as was SPF which you should wear daily.

Whilst I was still on the facial bed, the second stage of the package was a nail file and Jessica Phenom paint. This revolutionary paint really does dry very quickly and gives a gel-like shine without the use of a lamp or having to buff the nails. I chose a deep navy from a great range of colour choice.

Get Ready and Go 3Now was time to get those brows of mine “on fleek” and have a tidy. Maintaining your eyebrows, not only is quick and fairly pain-free, it really does make a difference in framing your face.

I was then taken to the makeup counter and was coloured matched to Jane Iredale’s foundation, which was applied and ensured that I felt comfortable enough to hit the town straight from my appointment. You can apply this makeup straight after treatment because of the pure mineral ingredients.

This super relaxing facial, which includes key service beauty treatments, is suitable for ladies and gentlemen (the Jessica paint is substituted for a nail tidy). The package is also suitable during pregnancy.

Snap up this introductory offer for yourself, or a loved one – it makes a fantastic gift! Only £55.00 (saving £30!) until the 23.12.2017. READY, SET, GO!

#FacialWeek Our Aestheticians share their skincare top tips!

CarlyToday we feature Carly’s top tips. Carly works every Monday at the No.6 Clinic and looks forward to welcoming you soon.

** Keeping your skin hydrated both internally and externally with drinking plenty of water and applying Dermaquest B5 serum which is a thirst quencher for the skin and helps retain moisture in the skin great for plumping fine lines and wrinkles!

** Protecting our skin throughout the year not just in the summer with a good quality SPF that contains zinc oxide which will safe guard and protect our skin from harmful UV and anti oxidants to scavenge free radicals which cause out skin to age!

** Using a Glycolic cleanser in the evenings will ensure a deep cleanse unblock pores and to increase cell turnover getting the best from our skin and increasing absorption for all of our other products that we use on the skin. Use a vitamin A product known as retinol on your skin, it can help in many different ways to improve your skin health.

** Vitamin A thickens and stimulates the dermis – where your collagen, elastin and blood vessels are – so it reduces wrinkles and increases blood flow to the surface of the skin. Vitamin A actually increases the deposition of collagen; therefore it slows the normal ageing breakdown of your collagen and elastin.
*** Always use a primer under your makeup to get the best application and a flawless finish!

** Try to have a course of peels throughout the year in combination with the Omnilux light treatment, our powerfacial, for a fresh looking, rejuvenated appearance to the skin!

Introduction to #FacialWeek with founder and owner of No.6, Samantha Clarke

“THE FACIAL, it forms our whole philosophy…”

Maintaining healthy skin is essential in keeping a fresh, youthful complexion through the decades and this is at the very core of our ethos of No.6.  Samantha saw after working in the industry for a few years as an Aesthetic Nurse that the eternal quest for youth, injectables and surgery were often being performed with unnatural and even scary results.

“At this stage probably 14 years ago” Samantha says, “I became very interested in the new cosmeceutical product ranges that were emerging, which claimed to renew skin cells, stimulate collagen and elastin without any recovery or downtime. I tried out all the products I could and grilled the founders about the science and the results. I was obsessed!!

In 2005 I was confident enough to branch out on my own. I rented a room in a local medical practice, took out a small bank loan, did the minimum order on MD formulation skincare and leased the Omnilux machine. Word seemed to spread and within six months I was doing an average of five Power Facials a day. The results spoke for themselves. Client numbers were growing and I was finding that those having these regular facials would not only have fabulous skin, but that the Doctor and I wouldn’t advise them to have botox and fillers as regularly, if at all! If they did need a tweak here and there the results of the injectables also lasted much longer.

In late 2006 No.6 was created. It was a huge step but I had a complete passion for advanced facials, cosmeceuticals and delivering the highest standard of care for my client’s and their skin.

Since then we have expanded. We now have two locations in St John’s, Tunbridge Wells which have provided additional treatment rooms and the retail of advanced skincare. Though, one treatment has always been central, THE FACIAL. It forms our whole philosophy at No.6 and we’re constantly striving to give our client’s the best bespoke result driven facial, whilst adding the latest innovations and special touches to ensure that it is the most anticipated appointment in our client’s diary!”

It’s Time to Take Notice of Your Neck

Look after your neckNo matter how young you may look from the chin up, if you don’t lavish some care on your neck your age will be an easy read. Neck skin is a prime age-revealer; an article recently published in the Telegraph stated that “50% of the visible signs of ageing happen in lower part of our face and below the neck”. This is because the skin can be thinner, due to a lower level of fatty tissue, and more sensitive, therefore it is the first to suffer from premature elastin and collagen degradation. The neck area is also just as prone to changes in pigment, sun damage, texture – and, yes, to wrinkles. With this in mind, here are some ways that you can improve the appearance of your neck, whatever your age.

Apply to Face…and Neck

Start to make a conscious effort in continuing your skincare regime below your jaw line and right down to your chest area. The neck has fewer sebaceous glands meaning that it dehydrates easily and needs nourishing ingredients to help restore this moisture. Aesthetician Beth recommends Environ’s AVST Body Oil, £42.45, a lightweight formula which contains Vitamin A, to normalise and repair, Vitamin C and E to protect, hydrate, heal and guard against photo-damage and ageing, as well as Jojoba oil to soften and smooth.  In her experience,  Beth also recommends Environ’s Revival Masque, £52, a unique combination of 3 acids (Asiatic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid) which work together to trigger the release of growth factors from the keratinocyte cells. This product will lighten pigmentation, reduce lines and wrinkles by making skin tighter, smoother, more radiant and younger looking  – hailed as a facelift in a jar!

Pamper Your Throat

In our No.6 Clinic facials we automatically carry the treatment down to this area, but also have specific treatments to target your neck concerns. Aesthetician Kelly often has clients asking her to pay attention to the neck area and she suggests adding onto our Signature Photofacial, (www.no6clinic.co.uk/facialtreatments.php) which is £50 extra for this additional area. This triple collagen boosting facial addresses the aspects of premature ageing due to its ability to promote fibroblast activity and subtly restructure collagen within the skin.

Aesthetic Nurse Haley recommends Redensity,(www.no6clinic.co.uk/injectables.php)  which redensifies your skin, restoring its ability to reflect light and giving an immediate, cumulative, visible, and – most importantly – natural result! The light filling treatment consists of microinjections performed evenly across the area of concern so that the Dermo-Restructing Complex is spread evenly into the skin. It is fantastic for the neck and décolleté – all areas that are fragile and often ignored by traditional treatments.

Defy Nature

The neck has a lower density of connective fibre makes it particularly prone to sagging, particularly the platysma muscle which can cause a ‘turkey neck’ in some people as they grow older, or through weight loss. It is also important to remember that posture matters, if you spend long hours in front of a computer, make sure your screen is at the correct height, this too applies for mobile phones, which you should avoid hunching your shoulder up and bringing the screen eye level.

To help tighten this area, Aesthetic Nurse Samantha shares here top three neck exercises:

The Tongue Press Sitting back with your back straight and shoulders down tilt your head back so that you are looking at the ceiling — Forcefully press your tongue to the roof of your mouth — lower your chin to your chest as far as possible without rounding your back —You should feel  your chin and front of neck contract –Relax your tongue, straighten your neck and repeat

Chin Rotations In a seated or standing position, elongate your spine for a tall, straight, back — Leading with your chin slowly and gently rotate your head so it moves in a full circle from your shoulder to chest to shoulder to back—Keep your shoulder down and back throughout the movement —Repeat in opposite direction.

Platysma Exercise Stand with your neck erect —Tighten the tendons in your jaw by pulling you lips up over your teeth and turning down the corners of your mouth downwards, as if you were frowning —Hold for 10seconds and relax—Repeat.
